Agency History
Community Services, Inc. (CSI) is a private, non-profit agency of Ocean County, New Jersey, created by St. Andrew United Methodist Church in 1973. Its goal is the enhancement of the dignity and well-being of the Senior Citizens of Ocean County whom it serves.
CSI was founded to provide hot, nutritious meals to Senior Citizens (those persons 60 years of age and older) of Ocean County through congregate meal sites at various locations, or through home delivery for those who, due to health or physical limitation, are unable to participate in the congregate meal site programs.
Along with the nutrition program CSI provides senior support services, which include needs assessments with referrals to appropriate Federal, State and Local programs and services, language translation, volunteer friendly visitors, reassurance phone calls, and limited transportation to medical appointments and to meal sites when required.
All programs are funded under Title III of the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, through a contract administered by the Ocean County Office of Senior Services. Program funding is also provided by the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
